Zero Waste Events

UC Santa Cruz and Chancellor Blumenthal have made a commitment: we will be a zero waste campus by 2020. With this in mind, maybe you would like to make your next event a Zero Waste Event?

Zero Waste events are held at various campus locations throughout the year to bring attention to minimizing our campus' carbon footprint.

How you can make your event a Zero Waste Event: 

• Request compostable paper products be used
• Request not only trash containers but also compost and recycling containers at your event
• Request (as much as possible) that local, sustainable, and organic food ingredients be used in preparing food for your event
• Consider having your event outside to utilize natural sun light
